back to the game | first page | second page | third page->The catapult was invented in 399 B.C. by an elder in a Greek city called Syracuse (SEER-ah-kyus). His name was Dionysius. (dye-oh-NYE-shus.) (B.C. means "Before Christ" or "Before the Common Era," meaning before we started counting years UP. Basically, to give you an idea of how long ago this was, your great-great-... (you'll need 96 greats) ... -grandfather might have been there to say "Wow! Cool catapult, Dio." And Dionysius might have said: "I'm going to invent a way to throw rocks and even Mommy can't get mad at me! So there, enemies! I'll call it... the catapult!" |
